Artist Statement
If I could, I would use the very blood I bleed to paint my own canvas. My tears would wet my brushes. Art is my survival and my future. I work with paint, clay, beads, and fabric, making my art pop off the canvas while staying rooted in spiritual healing and self expression for myself and for anyone who encounters it.
Bio
Baltimore based artist Tatiana Robinson is best known for her dreamlike paintings, but she doesn't just paint, she conjures. Drawing inspiration from Frida Kahlo. Her work explores spiritual healing, self expression, and resilience, often creating multidimensional pieces that seem to pop off the canvas; pressing out from the flat world, craving breath. Using Whatever she can find & repurposing the broken into achingly beautiful works of art. She was born in the low country, raised in the sprawl of New Jersey, two worlds that never quite fit, so she built a third one. A sanctuary. A door. Art was not a hobby for her, it was rescue. It was the hand that pulled her from the current, the light she followed when her world went dark. That light led her to Baltimore, Coppin State, where she stayed steady, faithful, hungry until 2020, when she walked across that stage not just with a degree, but with a testament: I survived. I made something beautiful. And I am still becoming & thriving
